The phrase "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" should not only apply to people, but art as well.
No one, NO ONE has the power, artistic ability or reputation to be able to define what is art and what is not.
If a five year old draws a distorted image and calls it a self-portrait, then to her it IS art.
If a 16 year old takes a picture of herself in her bathroom mirror and calls it a self-portrait, then to her it IS art.
Everyone has their own opinion when it comes to art, and it is such a subjective subject.
But to say "that is not art" or "that is not real art" you'd haveto ask "well what is real art then?" or "what is art?"
You'll find that most people don't have an answer...
ART IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER.
It is what you want it to be, and if people tell you that your picture, poem, photograph or sketch is not art then they can go fuck them selves.
